چکیده

Background: Huanglongbing (HLB) is currently one of the most devasting diseases in citrus plants worldwide. Resistance against its causal agent, Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (CLas), commercial Citrus species remains a challenge, even though they show differences CLas multiplication. Methods: A total 14 citrandarins and their parents (Sunki mandarin Poncirus trifoliata cv. Rubidoux) were top-grafted onto canopy potted ‘Valencia’ sweet orange with high titers. The grafted genotypes tested for infection physiological effects disease (starch accumulation callose deposition) 12 months. Results: All infected by during time frame experiment. However, decrease rate ranging from 50% to 80% hybrids H109, H126, H157, H222 was observed 360 days top-grafting. undetected real-time PCR H106 at end experiment, which had low levels starch deposition. Conclusions: all citrandarins, but over detected some specific genotypes, led less

The ABC transporters in Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus

Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (Ca. L. asiaticus) is a Gram-negative bacterium and the pathogen of Citrus Greening disease (Huanglongbing, HLB). As a parasitic bacterium, Ca. L. asiaticus harbors ABC transporters that play important roles in exchanging chemical compounds between Ca. L. asiaticus and its host. Here, we analyzed all the ABC transporter-related proteins in Ca. L. asiaticus. We ...

Temporal progression of 'Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus' infection in citrus and acquisition efficiency by Diaphorina citri.

Over the last decade, the plant disease huanglongbing (HLB) has emerged as a primary threat to citrus production worldwide. HLB is associated with infection by phloem-limited bacteria ('Candidatus Liberibacter' spp.) that are transmitted by the Asian citrus psyllid, Diaphorina citri. Transmission efficiency varies with vector-related aspects (e.g., developmental stage and feeding periods) but t...

Predictive Sequence Analysis of the Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus Proteome

Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (Ca. L. asiaticus) is a parasitic gram-negative bacterium that is closely associated with Huanglongbing (HLB), a worldwide citrus disease. Given the difficulty in culturing the bacterium and thus in its experimental characterization, computational analyses of the whole Ca. L. asiaticus proteome can provide much needed insights into the mechanisms of the disease...

SEC-Translocon Dependent Extracytoplasmic Proteins of Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus

Citrus Huanglongbing (HLB) is the most destructive citrus disease worldwide. HLB is associated with three species of the phloem-limited, gram-negative, fastidious α-proteobacteria: Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (Las), Ca. L. americanus (Lam), and Ca. L. africanus (Laf) with Las being the most widespread species. Las has not been cultured in artificial media, which has greatly hampered our e...

Transcriptional Analyses of Mandarins Seriously Infected by ‘Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus’

A range of leaf symptoms, including blotchy mottle, yellowing, and small, upright leaves with a variety of chlorotic patterns resembling those induced by zinc deficiencies, are associated with huanglongbing (HLB, yellow shoot disease), a worldwide destructive citrus disease. HLB is presumably caused by the phloem-limited fastidious prokaryotic α-proteobacterium 'Candidatus Liberibacter spp.' Pr...
